Tras la obtención del PMP®, distinguida titulación de la formación para empresas relacionada con la dirección y gestión de proyectos, comienza el ciclo de la certificación: períodos de 3 años tras los cuales hemos de acreditar ante el PMI que seguimos en activo en nuestra profesión, con el reporte de PDUs o unidades de desarrollo profesional.
PMP, Certificación en Gestión de Proyectos
La certificación PMP® (Project Management Professional) es una certificación de Competencia Profesional en la formación para empresa para la Dirección de Proyectos.
Está desarrollada por los PMPs de todos los países, que participan en el establecimiento de los requisitos y en el desarrollo del examen para obtenerla.
La certificación PMP® garantiza la actualización profesional permanente de su poseedor. Una vez obtenida la certificación, para su mantenimiento es necesario acreditar, cada tres años, la continuidad en el ejercicio y el autodesarrollo profesionales en el ámbito de la Dirección de Proyectos.
Para su obtención, el PMI® requiere la acreditación de 35 horas lectivas de formación en Gestión de Proyectos para poder acceder al examen PMP®, así como una experiencia contrastable en Gestión de Proyectos
PMP – CCR, Mantenimiento de la Certificación
Para mantener la
certificación PMP tras aprobar el examen es necesario obtener un mínimo de 60 PDUs (Professional development units) en cada ciclo de 3 años.
Con esta medida el PMI quiere asegurar que sus miembros se mantienen en continua formación y actualización de conocimientos, sin tener que volver a pasar por la compleja prueba del examen. El 1 de diciembre de 2015 PMI ha publicado una serie de cambios de calado sobre el mantenimiento de la certificación.
El reporte de PDUs ha de ser constante. En el momento en que realizamos un curso o estamos implicados en una actividad susceptible de proporcionarnos PDUs hemos de reportarlos, sin dejarlo para más adelante. Desde que comienza el ciclo, éste ha constituir un hábito que nos permita llevar el recuento al día.
PDUs, Unidades de Desarrollo Profesional
PDU son las siglas de Professional Development Units que es la medida que utiliza el PMI para cuantificar actividades y servicios de aprendizaje relacionados con el Project Management. Una PDU es el equivalente a una hora de trabajo o estudio relacionado con algún área o proceso del PMBOK. PMI establece 6 categorías de PDUs que se agrupan en dos divisiones, las divisiones son:
- Los obtenidos de fuentes educacionales.
- Los que son fruto de la experiencia profesional directa.
En la primera división no hay límite para reportar PDUs en el ciclo de 3 años, mientras que en la segunda está limitado el número de PDUs que se pueden reportar a un máximo de 45 en un ciclo de tres años.
Las categorías dentro de la división “Education PDU” son:
- Categoria A: estas son las PDUs que se consiguen en los cursos que ofrecen los REPs, capítulos y comunidades.
- Categoría B: estas PDUs son de “Continuing Education” y se consiguen por asistir a cursos, webinars, etc… relacionados con el Project Management,
- Categoría C: autoaprendizaje, estas PDUs se consiguen por autoestudio de temas relacionados con el Project Management.
- Categoría D: creación de nuevo conocimiento de Project Management, estas PDUs se consiguen por la creación de artículos, libros, cursos, presentaciones, etc…
- Categoría E: servicios de voluntariado, por trabajar como voluntario en organizaciones y grupos sin ánimo de lucro.
- Categoría F: por trabajar como Project Manager puedes reportar hasta 15 PDUs por ciclo de 3 años ó 5 PDUs por cada 12 meses.
PMI aleatoriamente puede realizar auditorías de las PDUs que reportas, en el caso de tener una auditoría tendrás que demostrar con certificados y evidencias de que has realizado las actividades necesarias para cada PDU , además desde que haces el reporte de las PDUs, deberás de tener guardados esos certificados y evidencias al menos 18 meses.
